Andrew Bertoli

I am an assistant professor at IE University in Spain. My research examines how sports influence politics. I am particularly interested in how international sports influence relations between countries, whether sports promote racial and gender equality, and the role that sports can play in building social connections within communities.

I also recently created a classroom game that uses challenges in space and cyber affairs to teach students important lessons about game theory and social constructivism. The game could be used in courses about international relations, game theory, strategy, negotiation, or many other topics.

I received my Ph.D. in political science from UC Berkeley in 2016. Prior to graduate school, I attended the University of Notre Dame, where I studied political science and Arabic. I also held postdoctoral fellowships at Dartmouth (2017-2018) and the University of Southern California (2016-2017).
